The Hardcore Defense "Alpha Light" products are intended for defense against handgun projectiles. Made from a slightly lighter version of our robust Alpha steel, the Alpha Light product satisfy NIJ IIIA requirements while saving every ounce possible for comfortable day to day carry.

The Alpha Light Backpack Insert is a smaller version of the Alpha Shield for use in backpacks, briefcases, car seatbacks, and other locations where pistol-level ballistic protection is required.  It uses the same steel as the robust Alpha Shield in a slightly thinner variant to further save weight for comfortable everyday use.

    • .44 Magnum 240 grain LSWC at 1400 fps
    • Also stops lesser threat rounds including .357 Magnum, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP.

  • Flat, less than 3/16" thick
