Coating
The Hardcore Defense "Alpha" products are intended for defense against handgun projectiles. Made from our original premium military-grade ballistic steel, their strength and robustness has been proven in multiple torture tests. We use a stronger steel than necessary to achieve the NIJ IIIA testing - when bullets are flying a factor of safety is a good thing! The rectangular shape with no lower taper maximizes coverage and provides for a stable base when resting the shield on level surface.

  • NIJ Level IIIA
    • 9 mm 124 grain full metal jacket at 1400 fps
    • .44 Magnum 240 grain LSWC at 1400 fps
    • Also stops lesser threat rounds including .357 Magnum, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP.  
  • Proprietary military-grade ballistic steel provides unrivaled edge hit and multi-hit performance.
  • Bolts can withstand full power strikes directly on the handle bolts.
  • Cutouts on both sides up top for ambidextrous use
  • Cushioned handle and thick forearm pad provides a comfortable and secure grip, thermal insulation, and absorbs impact energy
  • Centerline high mounted grip provides easy balance and reduces felt weight
  • Modest cutouts and no lower taper maintains maximum coverage
  • Standard version comes with environmentally-protective black matte powder coating
  • Optional Rhino-lining provides superior scratch and ding resistance and improved spall protection

Manufacturer's comment regarding the above videos:  the Alpha Shield was designed from the start to stop handgun cartridges only.  It generally stops big, blunt, and lower velocity projectiles well.  High velocity centerfire rifle cartridges like those used in assault and hunting rifles will penetrate the shield.  For protection against rifle threats, please consider the Delta Shield or Bravo Shield.
